The 8th Annual Hyde Park Open Studios is scheduled for December 4th and 5th from 12 noon to 5 PM at six locations throughout Hyde Park. With over forty artists participating, visitors can expect to see a variety of work, including photography, painting, sculpting, etchings, glass work, stained glass, textiles, mixed media, jewelry, drawing and decorative arts. Artists will be present to answer questions about their art, their studios, and their working methods. HPOS will also feature demonstrations and music performance.

During the past eight years, more and more artists have discovered Hyde Park as one of the most affordable and exciting places to work within Boston city limits. Many of them have reclaimed and restored disused, sometimes historically significant buildings, and others have become involved in the community by providing after-school instruction to schoolchildren whose arts programs have been eliminated. 65 Sprague Street was a railroad repair shop and later a shoe factory before its conversion into light industrial spaces, several of which were turned into large art studios with 20-foot-high ceilings. The Menino Art Center at 26 Central Avenue is dedicated to arts advocacy, community art classes, and financially accessible studios. The Lofts at 1 Westinghouse Plaza serve as live/work space. Artists in other individual and group spaces invite the public to view and enjoy their work for the weekend. Visitors can also shop and dine at numerous destinations throughout Hyde Park.

Hyde Park Open Studios is organized by a dedicated group of volunteers, and underwritten through the generosity of First Highland Management and Franklin Studios.
